SBN Genomics Forum/Research Exchange and Poster Competition
Today, I attended the SBN Genomics Forum/Research Exchange and Poster Competition. It was a very fruitful experience, and although I was only able to capture the morning session on Google Wave, I nonetheless learned a lot about genomic technologies.
What dawned upon me from this session was how all the genomics technology that was applied to vineyards and winemaking had so much relevance to human health research! The same systems biology logic (e.g. genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics coming together to paint a picture of a living system) had cross-applicability in both wine research, forestry conservation and cancer research. Hence, when somebody asked the question, “Why do genomics on wine production?”, I had an answer (for which I suspect many scientists already thought of): Because the technologies developed here can be used there too.
Enough said, I’ll now insert my notes from Google Wave:

Hey, I saw you taking notes at the conference :3
Note: “You are not a participant in this wave.”
